A Message from Mindprint Learning‘s Founder & CEO, Nancy Weinstein

All parents want to see their children happy and successful in school. We know parents have insight into their child that no one else can possibly have. They also have unlimited love. That is a powerful combination. I know it. Mindprint was born out of our love to help our own child who we saw struggling in ways no one else did.

At the time, I was a stay-at-home mom. My daughter was doing fine, but frankly, we knew something “just wasn’t right.” Our superb teacher mentioned at conferences, “there’s something holding her back. I just want to unlock her potential.” We decided to take her for a psycho-educational evaluation, hoping to understand her true capabilities, how she learns best and what she was going to need to succeed. We were excited at the prospect of having answers.

While many of our questions were answered through the evaluation process, others were not. And there was no one we felt we could turn to for follow up advice. In addition, the process was expensive, time consuming and frustrating for our daughter. It was one of those life moments when you just say to yourself “there’s got to be a better way.”

Fast forward four years and Eric and I have our own company that provides a confidential, online assessment of comparable quality at a fraction of the time and cost. We have a license with the Brain Behavior Lab at University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine for a test they developed through an NIH-sponsored grant. Our understanding is that there’s nothing of equal quality available for children anywhere else.

Parents can go online and test almost any child between the ages of 8 and 21 in approximately one hour. They get comparable results to what we had for $199, a fraction of what we paid. If there are signs of a problem Mindprint might recommend the family see a psychologist or other specialist. Otherwise, Mindprint provides specific, easy-to-follow suggestions for parents to help a child with study skills and options for a teacher to provide a bit of extra support in school. Each child is different, and our experts make certain that the recommendations reflect the specific needs of each child. Schools and tutors license our service as well.

We know Mindprint offers benefits over a traditional evaluation process. Mindprint eliminates the frustration of knowing what type of clinician a child should see. It is not nearly as troubling for an anxious child. It doesn’t take time away from school and work. And it does not raise objections about the subjective interpretation of the results. It won’t answer all questions for every family, but every family can be assured that they will get immediate, high quality feedback at an affordable price.

If you have any questions about your child’s learning, I hope you will try Mindprint. We know we’ve made a world of difference for many families. For others, we’ve provided the reassurance they needed. We priced it as low as we could so it could be affordable to most everyone. If price is a problem, please contact us. We want to help, and we have grants for our neediest families.

Good luck! We know you can do this. No one will ever tell you parenting is the easiest job. But they will tell you it is the most rewarding.

All my best,

Nancy
